The Institute of Catalysis (IC) of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) was established in 1983, subsequently becomes a leading center for catalytic research in Bulgaria and in the Southeast Europe region.
The main activities of the Institute are in the field of fundamental and applied research of catalytic reactions and processes, their kinetic dependencies, development of technologies for production of catalysts, mathematical models of catalytic reactors and processes, effective coordination of research in the field of catalysis between different institutions operating in this field in Bulgaria, expert activity, development and implementation of catalyst production and application of industrial catalytic processes.
Тhe institute has the rights to train Ph.D. students in the specialties: chemical kinetics and catalysis; chemistry of the solid state and petroleum chemistry and synthesis.
