This event is organized by the European Research Council in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, and Institute of Catalysis, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The aim is to offer insight into the ERC  funding schemes, highlight the novelties of the ERC Work Programme 2026, and guide participants through the application process. Information about the national support available to potential applicants will also be provided.

Widening Country Inspiration Story

Partner with experts and communicate clearly“

The fourteenth edition of the National Program “For Women in Science” in Bulgaria has been launched. For another year, the competition seeks to identify the three most talented women scientists in Bulgaria in the field of natural sciences, who will be awarded prizes of €5000 each. Scientists from across the country can submit their applications for the program until March 31, 2024. From January 24th to January 26th, 2020, the Scientific and Educational Festival “The Found Generation” took place at the National Palace of Culture (NDK). Scientists from the Institute of Catalysis at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) participated with video material.

With a presentation on the activities of the project “The Chemical Experiment – Method, Means, and Condition for Forming Scientific Literacy in Students” from the “Education with Science” Program, scientists from the Institute of Catalysis at BAS participated in presenting the program at the meeting organized by the Bulgarian Association of Private Schools under the title “Become a Friend of Science”. The event took place on November 14th, 2019, at the International Business School – Sofia (the presentation file is attached).

On November 1st, 2019, on the occasion of the Day of National Awakeners, a report was broadcasted on BTV news featuring scientists from the Institute of Catalysis at BAS and students from various schools in Sofia presenting various chemistry experiments. The aim was to showcase the fun side of chemistry and thus to spark curiosity among students towards science. The report can be viewed at the attached link.

The activities of the project “The Chemical Experiment – Method, Means, and Condition for Forming Scientific Literacy in Students” from the “Education with Science” Program were popularized in national media, including TV Europe and bTV. On October 26th, 2019, a report was aired on TV Europe news titled “School in the Museum: BAS Opens Doors for Students in Sofia.” , in which scientists from the Institute presented the main highlights of the planned activities under the project “The Chemical Experiment – Method, Means, and Condition for Forming Scientific Literacy in Students.”

Open Day

Be a Chemist for a Day and Visit the Institute of Catalysis

On June 3, 2019, the Institute of Catalysis at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will host an Open Day. This initiative is part of the celebratory events marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Opening of the “Education with Science” Program

On September 11th, at the Ethnographic Museum, the joint program “Education with Science” by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) was launched by the President of the Academy, Academician Julian Revalski, and Minister Krasimir Valchev. At the event, scientists from the Institute of Catalysis demonstrated various chemical experiments to students from the Sofia Mathematics High School and the guests. Introducing innovative methods in chemistry education and environmental conservation is of paramount importance for sparking students’ interest in the natural sciences.
