The main scientific interests of the laboratory include the synthesis, characterization using chemical and physical analysis methods, and quantum-chemical and theoretical studies of catalytic materials. For the synthesis of catalysts, methods such as co-precipitation, sol-gel, mechanochemical, thermal, and others are successfully applied. The laboratory is equipped with apparatus for material characterization, utilizing methods such as Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, and X-ray diffraction. The theoretical studies are focused on examining the atomic-level processes occurring on the surface of solid materials using methods of theoretical and computational chemistry. A special area of interest is the systemic analysis of processes in heterogeneous catalysis using DFT and other methods.
